I have hesitated about weighing in on this issue, but it has become such a hot button, and millions of children are being exposed to this lie that I felt it was time to see what the Bible says. Critical race theory was developed in the 1970s and has recently come to the limelight due to racial tensions expanding across America.
What CRT espouses is that everybody is oppressed, and most are at one point the oppressor. Primarily it seeks to pit ‘white’ males as the ones oppressing the others. It teaches that all of the problems are due to ‘white men.’ This is sad, yet many people believe that all of the problems are the Jew’s fault.
No One Is Without Fault
Throughout history, there has been one group always seeking to dominate another. That is true for every ethnicity, including empires in Africa, Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and so on. When Western Europeans began exploring the New World, it is no secret that it came with a price to indigenous peoples and many of them became slaves, were diseased, lost their land, and were forcibly converted by missionaries. That last one has led to a black eye on the modern missions movement.
But, before the Europeans arrived, these same tribes warred against one another and did many of the same things. When slaves were rounded up in West Africa, they were done so by the hands of their own people. Still, I am not justifying what Western Europeans or any ethnic group has done. I am pointing out that, as Solomon wrote, there is nothing new under the sun.
The Mongols, Chinese, Koreans, Huns, Goths, Angles, Saxons, Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, and many others have conquered peoples along the annals of history. Some empires were great and friendly, while others merely sought to conquer and destroy other peoples. For example, Islam was advanced by force when it told people to submit or die.
Therefore, no one group is exempt from the problems that white people of America or Western Europe are accused of. They are just the most recent culprits. The British Empire used to be in every time zone so that the sun never set upon it. Other nation’s also colonized around the world and sought to impose their ideals and culture as the right one. Finally, missionaries tried to make western looking converts instead of contextualizing the gospel.
NO Nation Is Greater Than Another
In the scheme of things, God looks at all nations as having transgressed the covenant He established, even Israel. Israel was supposed to set the example and failed to a degree. So Jesus called His disciples to disciple the nations.
CRT tells whites that they are the bad guy, and when they admit it, there is no offer of forgiveness and hope. You are now so-called ‘woke,’ and that’s it. You have become the oppressed. That doesn’t sound like the gospel to me. Jesus only flips things against Satan and his little kingdom. He doesn’t set captives free to go put others in captivity.
I digress. We are in a spiritual battle, and that is what this is all about. I am not oppressing or being oppressed by anyone except the kingdom of darkness. I may have offended many along the way and ask forgiveness, but each one will have to put it under the blood and nail it to the cross.
Nation Vs. Nation
Jesus said that there would be an increase in nation or ethnos rising up against the other. I understand that people are angry and upset. The indigenous peoples of America have more to be upset about than any nation or people group here. They still live isolated on worthless land, for the most part. Where is the cry for justice there?
Still, the only answer is found in Jesus, but not a white or black Jesus, or a red Jesus, a Jewish Jesus sitting on the throne waiting to come and gather all nations around His throne to worship, in the New Jerusalem, that will come down where the old one is.
I am not a politician and do not claim to have the answers, but at some point, we have to forgive and bury the past and move on. We cannot move on if we keep changing oppressors or oppressed. Politics, education, and special interest groups are not the answer.
No nation should be superior to another. God’s heart for the nations was to be one, and that was lost at Babel. Since then, the nations have built empires, cities and fought one another. The original intent was for all people to spread out and fill the earth. They broke that command at Babel. Babel was a counter or false New Jerusalem or heavenly city. That city will come down, and a remnant from all nations will gather and worship together.
Why can’t we worship as many nations in one accord now? Why do we have to come up with more reasons to hate? That’s all CRT is pure hate. God is love!
Some verses regarding the nations:
Psalm 86:9 “All of the nation’s that you have created will come and worship before you, O Lord.”
Isaiah 66:18 “ For I know their works and their thoughts; the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see My Glory.
Matthew 25:32. ‘All the nations shall be gathered before Him, and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Jeremiah 25: 31-32 “ a clamor has come to the end of the earth because the Lord has a controversy with the nations. He is entering into judgment with all flesh; as for the wicked, He has given them to the sword. Thus says the Lord of Hosts, “Behold, evil is going forth from nation to nation, and a great storm is being stirred up, from the remotest parts of the earth.”
If there was a storm in Jeremiah and Isaiah’s day, what do you think God is saying now? NO, nothing will go unpunished. That is why I say a remnant from every nation will gather and worship because there will be sheep nations and goat nations. It’s not my job to figure out if America is sheep or goat, but to lift up the standard.
I will end with this scene in heaven taken from Revelation 7:9-10:
“After this, I looked and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples, and languages standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes and with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the lamb.’”
There is enough hate in the world so let’s love every nation, tribe, tongue, language, people group, and ethnicity with the Love of Christ.
