A well can be shallow or deep, depending on how it is dug. But, the water is no good without a way to access it. We hear a lot about re-digging wells of revival, but what good is a well full of water if the water is not accessible?
Wells are important in the Bible, beginning in Genesis 26 where we see a quarrel over five wells with Isaac and various people groups. Later, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well. This was unheard of for a Jewish teacher to meet with a woman alone, and especially a woman that was a lower class, possibly mixed bred woman.
She asked him how he proposed to draw water when he had nothing to draw the water with. Alas, Jesus offered her living water, from Himself.
Jesus has provided living water for us, and it is a fountain. A fountain spews forth and bubbles continuously. Jesus offers us a fountain, and if you are a Christ-follower, then not only are you a well, but you are a fountain because He is a source of water that never runs dry. His water is continuous and needs no dipper!
Are you a fountain of living water that bubbles from the overflow? I challenge you go deep, get filled up and overflow, because the world needs fountains today. It’s time to minister to a dry world as living fountains bubbling forth the life of Jesus!
