The Big Picture: What Lies Beyond Coronavirus?
With everything seemingly closed, shutdown, canceled, quarantined, or just not working right now, it seems most are forgetting to look at the bigger picture with Coronavirus. With governments ordering more lockdowns or closings, schools canceling all activities, and social gatherings no longer functional we have to take stock of what is going on. There are two ways to view it one good and one negative.
Many are saying this will be over in a few weeks and we will go back to normal. What is normal? Will it be over? The virus could just die all of a sudden. God can perform a mighty sign and end this plight. Yet, what has already taken place will continue to have a lasting effect. Whatever is behind the virus there still remains the fact that so many people are now working from home, and so many are without jobs or laid off.
We have stepped into a new era. We have never been this way, and due to the internet and digital age, we are surely destined to see many permanent changes as a result of this viral pandemic. Is it evil? Yes! Many may say why is God doing this? God is allowing it for many reasons. For me, it is an opportunity to pray more and draw closer and lean on Him to hear what He is saying. This is the time for everyone to ‘seek the Lord’. Do not rely on news reports to encourage or discourage you. ASk the Lord and surely He will answer.
The Lord is still a loving Father and a Judge. He continues to wear both ‘hats’ as it were. He is unchangeable and we must adhere to what His word says. Some are saying that the tribulation has begun. Perhaps they said the same thing when the Balck plague hit or Spanish Flu of 1918. There are so many other things that must take place before that. One is the gospel must be preached to all nations. (Matt. 24)
The nations still deserve to ‘hear the Good News’ and receive forgiveness from the Lord through Jesus. There is a shaking going on in all of the earth. Is this the day of the Lord? Or just another sign pointing to bigger and larger things to come. I will not say when it will be over but I believe that behind this may be other signs. Christians should not be taken aware or caught off guard, but should always be ready, trusting and believing the Lord God Almighty. No matter what takes place we should remain steadfast and firm in our faith. If there is no toilet paper or worse yet food in the store do we fall apart and quit or trust God.
Remember that there is “a day of the Lord”, where all of he nations will be gathered and judged with what they do with Jesus, how they have responded to God’s word and His judgments, and His appeals for repentance.
Obadiah 1:15, “For the day of the Lord draws near on all the nations. AS you have done so it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head.”
Obadiah was prophesying to Edom who was an enemy of Israel and had helped Babylon destroy the temple the first time. God used several prophets to speak to Edom and the nations. God is always calling the nations back. If this is judgment surely God has a remedy. It is called repentance. Yes, a lot of terrible things are happening. We live in a terrible fallen world, yet we live in a glorious world because God created it. The terrible things are not His doings but He allows it.
We live in an unprecedented time and we have a great opportunity to see a harvest of souls like never before. I pray the Virus will stop now but until or when it does I will continue to praise God for waking us up to seek Him and cry out for the nations. Cry out and travail for the nations to come into alignment with God and His word.
Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in him.”
Do we take refuge in Him or the government or man? Does He know us? Church, rise up and shine brightly!
Whatever you are going through God is near. If you are a believer then you have the faith to overcome all that is here and yet to come. He promised us that. Overcomers!
